Fast rail and road links to London, lower office overheads than in the City of London and other cities and a highly qualified workforce have encouraged investment by businesses in the financial and business services sectors in Wiltshire.
The city of Salisbury, in the south east of Wiltshire, has the highest concentration of employment in financial services in Wiltshire.
Businesses based in the city include the James Hay Partnership, part of the IFG Group. James Hay is one of the largest providers of self invested personal pensions (SIPPs) in the UK and also offers Wrap and small self-administered scheme (SSAS) propositions. Friends Life is also situated in Salisbury; it provides life assurance, pensions and investment products for Asia, Middle East, Europe, UK and other selected markets.
Other major financial businesses in Salisbury include Capita Sip Services, one of the leading third party pension administrators offering self invested pension services and investment administration capabilities; and Rowanmoor Group plc, the UK’s largest independent SSAS provider and a bespoke SIPP and Family Pension Trust operator which has its HQ in the city.
Zurich, whose core business is insurance – general and life – has a presence in Royal Wootton Bassett to the north of the county. Monahans, which has offices in Trowbridge and Chippenham, offers advice on all aspects of accountancy such as accounts preparation, audit and tax, as well as a range of more specialised services.
A diverse range of business services companies also reside in Wiltshire in fields such as legal services, marketing, advertising, public relations and recruitment.
