Wiltshire communications reseller Solar Communications Group has extended its reach to the North West after snapping up a business based in Manchester.

The Chippenham-headquartered company has acquired Armstrong Communications for an undisclosed sum and said the move would create a “powerful national force”.

The combined group now has 70 members of staff and offices in London, Manchester and Chippenham. Solar Communications said the Manchester office of Armstrong would be a “key” part of its extended operations.

Solar chief executive Mark Colquhoun said: “Armstrong Communications will join Solar Communications within the group and together become a powerful national force within the communications industry.

“The Solar Communications Group has an exciting growth plan – annual sales have grown from £2m in 2007 to £10m 2012. In order to maintain this growth we need greater national reach and additional talented people. The acquisition of Armstrong contributes to the achievement of both of these goals.”

Armstrong was founded in 1995 and has a turnover of £3m.
